TCSO inmate dies from heart attack

A 48-year-old male inmate at the Troup County Sheriff’s Office was pronounced deceased Monday morning after going into cardiac arrest.

According to TCSO Sheriff James Woodruff, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Tyrone Mitchell began complaining of chest pains and was examined by medical personal.

Mitchell was transported to the emergency room at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. Shortly after his arrival to the ER, Mitchell went into cardiac arrest and could not be revived at 3:52 a.m.

Mitchell was serving time at TCSO for a parole violation.

Woodruff said that the death investigation was turned over the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
