Troup County organizations once again have the opportunity to color for a cause at the LaGrange Mall on March 3.

Color for a Cause allows local organizations the ability to share their platform with the public while also coloring a six-foot mural. Additionally, organizations will have the chance to raise money for their cause by shopping at the mall.

This is the fourth year of the event hosted by the Hull Property Group, owners of LaGrange Mall.

Donna Powell, senior property manager with the Hull Property Group, said each organization gets two hours to color their mural with color pencils provided by the mall. Additionally, the teams have can individuals from outside of their organization shop on behalf of the group to earn points.

Powell said those points then turn into dollars for the organization. For every receipt collected by an organization, they will earn one point. The group with the most points at the end of the night will win a $250 prize donation. Also, every point is worth $1, so all organizations earning points will receive a donation in the amount of points earned.

Powell said a panel of local judges would judge the mural contest, and the winner will also receive a $250 donation.

Powell said the Troup County Humane Society was the winner of the shopping contest last year, and the mural winner was the First Choice Women’s Center. She said both organizations are participating once again.

Organizations are encouraged to have friends and family to attend on their behalf because shoppers and mural painters do not have to work for the organization.

“They need somewhere between 6 and 10 people that night,” Powell said. “Friends, family, acquaintances, or anybody who wants to come color or shop on the organization’s behalf is welcome.”

The deadline to register for the event is Wednesday, Jan. 29. To sign up, organizations can visit wecolorforacause.com or email mallevents@hullpg.com for further questions.

Powell said businesses could also participate on behalf of an organization. She said the event still has a few spots open, but it’s limited to 20 organizations.

Coles Doyle, marketing director for Hull Property Group, said the mall is excited to put on the event.

“We want to bring people together in the mall to inspire shoppers, families and the community,” Coles said in a news release. “Color for a Cause does just that by bringing awareness to local organizations and providing a fun opportunity to support all the great work they do here in the LaGrange community.”
