The LaGrange Academy Warriors, one night after an emotional win over the rival Flint River Wildcats, were unable to keep pace with top-seeded Furtah Prep on Tuesday in the GISA Region 1-AA tournament.

While Furtah Prep advances to the tournament semifinals with the 69-34 victory, LaGrange Academy won’t play again until the GISA Class A state tournament that begins next week.

LaGrange Academy, the tournament’s number nine seed, beat eighth-seeded Flint River 64-63 on Tuesday to advance.

LaGrange Academy wasn’t able to duplicate that success against a strong Furtah Prep team.

The Warriors trailed 18-15 after the first quarter, but by the half they were behind 42-21, and they were down 63-26 after three quarters.

Andrew Knight made four 3-pointers and led LaGrange Academy with 12 points, Mark Mittasch scored six points, and Sam Anderson added 10 points.

LaGrange Academy’s girls’ team has a semifinal game against Flint River Academy on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
