Thelma Jean Nissen — 1940-2020

Thelma Jean Nissen, 79, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.

Mrs. Nissen was born April 27, 1940, in Franklin, to the late Joseph Humphrey Hood and Celia Mae Webb Mackey. She was a longtime member of The Pentecostal Church of LaGrange and also a member of the American Legion. Mrs. Nissen enjoyed planting and growing things, including lovely flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dean Nissen.

Survivors include her son, Michael Nissen; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Chris Payne; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Dustin, Charles, and Samuel; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Kayla; sister, Betty Moon (Derry Berry); several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at The Pentecostal Church of LaGrange with the Rev. Dalton Hammock and the Rev. Stephen Currie officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens.
