Mr. Daniel (Danny) Shumate, 51, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at his home.

He was born July 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He lived most of his life in Valley.

He is survived by his fiancée, Kathy Rendon and her children, Abi, Conner and Aaron of Buford, Georgia; his mother, Bobbie L. Swader of Valley; two brothers, John Swader of Valley and Charlie (Jackie) Swader, Jr. of Du Quoin, Illinois; two sisters, Susan Merritt of Lake Harding and Jackie Leigh Branch of Du Quoin, Illinois; two aunts, Jean Lee of Valley and Myrtle Cole of Roanoke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Shumate and his step-father, Charlie Swader Sr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. EST at Central Baptist Church in Lanett with the Rev. Jeff Thorn officiating.

Flanigan Funeral Home and Crematory of Buford, Georgia is handling the arrangements.
