After playing in one of the state’s most challenging regions for the past four seasons, the Troup Tigers will have a change of scenery this fall.
From 2015 to 2019, Troup played in Region 5-AAAA along with state powerhouses Cartersville and Sandy Creek as well as a host of other quality teams.
Beginning with the 2020 season, Troup will be one of nine teams in Region 2-AAAA, with the top four teams qualifying for the state playoffs.
After non-region games against Harris County and Callaway, Troup will begin its eight-game region schedule on Sept. 11 against Hardaway.
The Tigers, despite the difficulty of playing in Region 5-AAAA, made the state playoffs the past four seasons, and they finished second in the region in 2016 and 2018.
The only teams from Region 5-AAAA making the transition to Region 2-AAAA are Troup and LaGrange, and they’ll be joined by Hardaway, Spencer, Columbus, Kendrick, Shaw, Carver and Jordan.
Here is Troup’s 2020 schedule:
Aug. 14 – Heard County at Troup (preseason game)
Aug. 21 – Troup at Harris County
Aug. 28 – Callaway at Troup
Sept. 4 – Bye week
Sept. 11 – Hardaway at Troup
Sept. 18 – Spencer at Troup
Sept. 24 – Troup at Columbus (Kinnett Stadium)
Oct. 1 – Troup at Kendrick (Memorial Stadium)
Oct. 9 – Shaw at Troup
Oct. 16 – Troup at Carver (Memorial Stadium)
Oct. 30 – LaGrange at Troup
Nov. 6 – Troup at Jordan
