Troup head football coach Tanner Glisson has added to his staff by bringing in Will McPherson to coach the linebackers.

McPherson’s hiring was approved during a meeting of the Troup County School Board on Thursday.

McPherson, the son of Randy McPherson who won three state titles as the head coach at Lowndes High, comes to Troup after a two-year stint at Lee County that included a state championship in 2018.

McPherson has also coached at Camden County, Worth County and Cook County since graduating from Valdosta State.

McPherson played for his father at Lowndes High, and he was on the teams that won back-to-back state titles in 2004 and 2005.

McPherson attended Valdosta State and majored in history before embarking on his coaching career.

McPherson will coach at Troup, and teach at Long Cane Middle School.
