Mr. David Newell Austin, 81, of LaGrange, passed away on April 20, 2020, at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice.

Mr. Austin was born on Oct. 5, 1938, in Franklin, North Carolina to the late Lester Hayes Austin and Viola Lewis Austin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Michael, Carlton and Betty.

Mr. Austin proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from LaGrange Molding.  He was a member of the Gray Hill Church of God.  Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Annell Smith Austin; children, Tammie Janney (Randy), William Austin (Susan) and Tracie Smith (Adam); brothers, Lamar Austin, Larry Austin (Janice) and Barney Austin (Shirley); sisters, Jean Arnold and Susie Fincher (Mark); grandchildren, Niki Cadenhead (Jim), Whitney Janney, Houston Austin (Hannah), Savannah Gaddy (Jacob), Heather Portis and Lacy Howard; great-grandchildren, Bryce Studdard, Cadence Studdard, Cameron Austin and Ivey Portis; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Due to the health crisis in our country, a family graveside services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the Shadowlawn Cemetery with Pastor David Cross officiating.  A private family visitation will be held prior to the service.  A full Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
