The schedules are out.

With a new football season set to begin in less than four months, the Georgia High School Association released the football schedules for all of the teams in the state on Tuesday.

Most teams in the state will open their seasons on Aug. 21, although a handful of games will be played earlier that week in the Corky Kell Classic.

The regular season concludes on Nov. 6, and the top 32 teams in each classification will begin the state playoffs the following week.

While LaGrange and Troup will each play 10 regular-season games, Callaway will play nine games.

All three local teams will open the regular season on Aug. 21.

Callaway will host Opelika, while LaGrange and Troup have road games against Upson-Lee and Harris County, respectively.

LaGrange and Troup will play in Region 2-AAAA, and they’ll each play eight region games.

Callaway will remain in Region 5-AA where it has been for the past four seasons, and it will play four region games.

The top four teams in each region will qualify for the state playoffs.

While Callaway has been in the state playoffs every year since 2006, Troup has made four consecutive appearances in the playoffs.

Callaway will once again be led by head coach Pete Wiggins, who has led the program since 2005.

Wiggins has a 138-47 career record at Callaway, and he has guided the team to seven region championships and four appearances in the state semifinals since 2013.

Tanner Glisson returns for his sixth season as Troup’s head coach, and the team is 35-13 since the start of the 2016 season.

Glisson led the Tigers to the best season in school history in 2018 when they went 12-2 and made it to the Class AAAA state semifinals.

LaGrange, which will be led by first-year head coach Matt Napier, is looking to qualify for the state playoffs after a five-year absence.

Napier was Callaway’s offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2019, and he led an offense that averaged more than 40 points per game last season.

Here are the schedules for Callaway, LaGrange and Troup, including the preseason games.

All three teams are hoping to get together soon, something that is prohibited at the moment because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Spring practice has been canceled for all teams in the state, denying them two weeks of practice time.
