LaGrange College plans to resume on-campus instruction and activities this fall, according to President Dan McAlexander.

“Safety will, of course, be our driving force,” he said in a press release from the college. “We are meeting with local health authorities this week to define all guidelines and to ensure that we will exceed them.”

Devising those procedures will require a team effort, he said.

“While these plans will likely call for some adjustments on everyone’s part, they will not keep us from returning to the vibrant LaGrange campus that we all long to see,” McAlexander said. “Flexibility will certainly be required, but our resolve to return is unbending.”

Summer courses will continue to be offered online.

Although COVID-19 caused the cancellation of traditional end-of-the-year activities, the college is making sure some of those events still occur, although in an altered form.

“Our Honors Day and undergraduate research presentations will launch online on Wednesday at lagrange.edu/honors,” McAlexander said. “A re-imagined Baccalaureate service will be streamed on the college’s Facebook page May 15.”

The Class of 2020 will be celebrated with a commencement ceremony Oct. 17 during homecoming weekend.
