Amber Gilbert, a four-year starter on the Troup High girls’ basketball team who helped the team reach the Class AAAA  state-championship game last season, has made her college choice.

Gilbert has verbally committed to East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, and she’ll be a freshman on the team when the season gets underway in November.

Gilbert, a first-team member of the all-Region 5-AAAA team the past three seasons, helped lead Troup to the best season in school history as a senior.

Gilbert was the leading scorer on a team that went unbeaten in the regular season and advanced to the Class AAAA state-championship game before losing to Americus-Sumter.
