Troup County saw its number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise on Thursday, although the increase was lower than in recent days. The county also saw its death number decrease by one.

Troup County has 863 total cases and 24 deaths, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. That’s an increase of 19 cases from Wednesday.

Hayla Folden, district 4 public relations office for GDPH, said it’s likely the removal of one from the death toll was the result of that person actually living in a different county. Based on the death records from the last two days, it appears the death removed from Troup County’s total was a 74-year-old man.

Troup County’s total cases continues to climb, up from 426 to 863 over the last 12 days. That’s an average of 36 new cases per day over that stretch.
