LaPerion Perry, the former LaGrange High standout, has made quite an impact during his time on the University of West Georgia football team.

After playing in one game as a freshman in 2017, Perry has been one of West Georgia’s top play-makers as a wide receiver and kick returner the past two seasons.

Perry’s solid work on the football field hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Last week, the Gulf South Conference’s all-decade team was announced, and Perry was one of nine West Georgia players recognized.

Perry is a second-team selection on the all-decade team as a kick returner.

A few weeks earlier West Georgia announced its own all-decade team, and Perry was an honorable-mention pick as a kick returner.

Perry, who also plays basketball at West Georgia, played in one game in 2017 and had two catches.

As a red-shirt freshman in 2018 Perry enjoyed a breakout season as a wide receiver and return man.

Perry had 12 catches for 251 yards with two touchdowns, and he had two kickoff returns for touchdowns while returning eight punts for 131 yards.

During the 2019 season Perry caught 24 passes for 237 with three touchdowns, and he returned 12 punts for 85 yards while returning 29 kickoffs for a 19-yard average.

Perry will be a red-shirt junior for West Georgia when the season begins on Sept. 3 at Carson Newman.

Perry arrived at West Georgia after a memorable athletic career at LaGrange High where he was an all-state player in basketball and football.
