The LaGrange Police Department is still accepting nominations for its Citizens Police Academy, which will start on Sept. 8.
The class is free and open to the public.
The class lasts for 10 weeks starting Tuesday, Sept. 8 and ends Tuesday, Nov. 10. It’s held at the LaGrange Police Department Training Center, located at 376 Aerotron Parkway from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
According to the City of LaGrange, the class is intended to foster community relations and inform citizens of day to day police operations. Some of the topics covered include Constitutional law, patrol operations and criminal investigations. Those who complete should expect to have a better understanding of police conduct and legal authority.
All applications must be completed by Monday, Aug. 31. The class will close at 25 applicants.
Application forms can be obtained at the LaGrange Police Department front desk, LPD Facebook page, lagrangega.org or by emailing Sr. Police Officer Jim Davison at jdavison@lagrangega.org or Lt. Eric Lohr at elohr@lagrangega.org.
