LaGrange Daily News named one of the best newspapers in the state of Georgia

The LaGrange Daily News was once again named one of the best newspapers in the state in the Georgia Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.

The LDN placed second in general excellence in Division C. 

The News-Tribune and the Times-Georgian tied for first place.

LaGrange Living, the newspaper’s bi-monthly magazine, also won third place overall out of all magazines in the state. That category is not broken down by division.  

The LDN won a total of 14 awards in the contest, including three first place awards.

“I’m proud of the great work our staff has produced this past year, and it’s extremely rewarding to see that work judged as top-notch and award quality by our peers,” said Publisher Daniel Evans. “Our staff works hard every day to produce a high quality newspaper that this community can be proud of, and even during these challenging times, we’re doing all we can to keep our readers informed.”

Kevin Eckleberry won first place for sports feature photo, sports feature story and also swept the sports photo category, winning first, second and third place.

Jenna Oden won second place for best news photo. 

The LDN staff also won second place for special issues/special sections and best newspaper website. 

Daniel Evans won third place for serious column and breaking news writing. 

The LDN also won third place for community service and local news coverage.
