According to TCSO, once arriving at the jail entrance, the transporting officer and the inmate will remain in the transport vehicle.
A booking officer or the booking team will meet the transport officer in the entrance. The inmate is issued a face covering, their temperature is checked, and they are asked a series of COVID-19 screening questions.
The transport officer will remove the inmate from their vehicle the booking team will sanitize the inmate, the booking team will then escort the inmate inside the booking area of the jail. The transport officer will remain in the sally port unless they choose to enter the booking area.
At that point, they will be required to wear a face covering and be sanitized.
Troup County is now up to 1,650 total COVID-19 cases overall, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. There have been 36 deaths, including one new death, and 171 hospitalizations.
