Royce White, a senior offensive lineman on the Troup High football team, is in select company.

Maxpreps.com released its all-state football team last week that included players from all seven of the state’s classifications.

White is one five offensive linemen selected to the all-state first team, and he’s the only Class AAAA offensive player to earn that honor.

White, who was an all-state player following his junior season, has committed to the University of Memphis, a decision that was revealed during a ceremony in February.

This fall, White will anchor a Troup offensive line that includes four returning starters.

Last season, White helped running back Trey Williams and quarterback Kobe Hudson combined for nearly 2,500 rushing yards.

“I think our offensive line is going to be really good,” White said. “We lost our right tackle, Michael Irvin, but everybody else is coming back.”

When his time in high school is done, White will head to Memphis to join a program that has been thriving in recent years.

“I talked to all the coaches, and every single person I talked to I clicked with right away,” White said. “I just knew. It felt like home.”

Tanner Glisson, Troup’s head coach, appreciates White’s dedication, calming him “a football junkie.”

“You can’t run him out of there,” Glisson said. “He wants to get better every day. He works extremely hard.”

In addition to White, the other first-team all-state offensive linemen are Amarius Mims (Bleckley County), Micah Morris (Camden County), Terrance Ferguson (Peach County) and Bryson Estes (Eagle’s Landing).

Troup is scheduled to open its season on Aug. 21 at Harris County.
