Herman “Wayne” Bartley
Herman “Wayne” Bartley, devoted husband and loving father went home to Jesus on July 19, 2020, after a brief but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Wayne was born in West Point, Georgia, son of the late James Willard and Blanche Bartley. He was raised in a large loving family with two brothers and three sisters.
Wayne had an unmatched work ethic and successfully owned and operated Bartley Electric Company of LaGrange for 30 years.
Wayne remained very active in the community as a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in LaGrange, Georgia; also serving as a long standing member of Rotary Club of LaGrange. He was past Chairman of the Troup County Assessors Board and was currently Chairman of the Board for New Ventures, Inc. His greatest pleasure was entertaining and cooking delicious meals for friends and family. He and Beverly especially loved preparing Sunday dinners for his children and grandchildren, always reminding us that “Family is everything.”
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly Jalbert Bartley; two daughters, Kimberly Bartley Dunn and Cheryl Bacchi; one son, David Wayne (April) Bartley; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Lanelle Thompson of Bath, New York.
The family would especially like to thank all the loving care and support in flowers and food over the past several days. It has meant the world to the family.
A private graveside service will be held at Union Baptist Church Cemetery for immediate family members only; with a Celebration of Life service to be announced at a later date.
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or New Ventures, Inc.
Those wishing to share a condolence or remembrance with the family may do so by visiting www.shlagrange.com.
Arrangements are by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 (706) 884-8636.
