Softball game halted by lightning

Callaway’s home softball game with Mount Zion on Thursday was cut short because of lighthing.

Mount Zion was leading 5-0 in the third inning when the game was postponed because of lightning in the area, and the game never resumed.

Callaway (1-2) will visit Mount Zion on Tuesday before traveling to Shaw on Thursday.

LAGRANGE: LaGrange High’s softball team was unable to get anything going offensively in a 3-0 road loss to Harris County on Thursday.

It was the first loss of the season for LaGrange, which opened with shutout wins over Troup and Rockmart last weekend in the Callaway Classic.

Madison Dennis and Kaylee Bryant had LaGrange’s only hits against Harris County pitcher Annalise Knopp.

LaGrange has a makeup game against Bowdon scheduled for Wednesday.

TROUP: Troup High’s volleyball team opened its season with a pair of road wins on Thursday.

After beating Shaw 25-17, Troup handled Pacelli 25-22 and 25-16.

Troup will host Brookstone and LaGrange on Tuesday.

Brookstone and Troup will play at 5 p.m., Brookstone and LaGrange meet at 6 p.m., and LaGrange and Troup will face off in the final match at 7 p.m.
