Johnny “Sharp” Grier

1953 – 2020

Johnny “Sharp” Grier, 67, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.  

Johnny heard the voice of God say “Come unto me and rest”.  Johnny, a native of Pine Mountain, Georgia was born March 29, 1953, to the late Georgia Belle and Osborn Grier.  

He held employment at Callaway Gardens as the Grounds Engineer. 

 Johnny was preceded in death by his daughter, Tara Grier and son, Alonzo “Duke” Grier.  He leaves to hold on to his precious memories his wife, Sarah Grier; two daughters, Chloris Stanford (Tavares) and Brenda Grier; three granddaughters, Erica Grier, Canesia and Keara Stanford; one great grandson, Jaider Hudson; three stepsons, Lance Brooks, Thomas Brooks (Talisha) and Derrick Brooks (Danielle); four sisters, Marguarite Johnson, Betty Ransom, Pauline McDaniel (Jerry) and Cora Trammell; four brothers, Apostle Louis Trammell (Josephine), Phillip Trammell, Roosevelt Trammell (Cynthia) and Joe Cecil Copeland (Ann); four brother-in-laws, Robert Brooks, Sampson Brooks, Jimmie Lee Brooks and Willie Curtis Brooks, Jr.; two sister-in-laws, Nellie Hicks (Lewis) and Hattie Mae Tucker and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

Graveside services for Johnny Grier will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the Durand Cemetery in Durand, Georgia. Rev. Louis Trammell will officiate. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020 from 4 until 8 p.m. at West Georgia Mortuary, Lagrange, Georgia.
