Callaway softball team on winning streak

For the first time this season, the Callaway High softball team is on a winning streak.
Callaway (3-6 overall) blanked Temple 8-0 on Thursday to win its second straight game and begin its Region 5-AA schedule on a winning note.
LaGrange was clinging to a 1-0 lead when it broke things open with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Mya Lawton helped lead the offensive effort with two hits, including a double during the decisive fifth inning.
Lindsay Cofield also had two hits with a double, and Alora Vetsavong had two hits as well.
Chaple Butler and Aya Shuford each had a hit, Tyterria Godwin walked twice and had a sacrifice bunt, Faith Horton walked twice, Mikayla Speer walked and was hit by a pitch, and McKenzie Rhodes had a sacrifice bunt.
Horton pitched the five-inning complete game for Callaway.
Callaway will continue its region schedule on Tuesday with a home showdown against Heard County.
