Man charged with stealing lawnmower, car break-in

The LaGrange Police Department charged a man with entering an auto, theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and possession of a dangerous drug on Friday, according to an LPD press release.
Christopher Slay, 25, is the suspect. The LPD had been dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Alford Street in reference to a possible burglary. At the scene, they found Slay, who had been staying in a barn behind the house with the owner’s permission. Slay attempted to enter the house without the owner’s permission and was charged with trespassing, according to the release.
Upon further investigation, police found a stolen lawn mower in the barn, along with stolen medication from the owner of the house. According to the release, police also found at the residence stolen property linked to an earlier car break-in on Boulevard.
Slay is being held at the Troup County Jail with no bond.
According to LPD, the investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected.
