LaGrange man arrested for holding girlfriend at gunpoint

A 32-year-old LaGrange man was arrested for holding his girlfriend against her will Tuesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department, police arrested Roderiqus Gates after conducting a traffic stop near Commerce Avenue and New Franklin Road, in regard to a possible domestic. 

Further investigation revealed that the driver was being held against her will at gunpoint by her live-in boyfriend, Gates.

LPD said that the victim had visible injuries on her face.

The press release stated that the victim provided a statement that Gates forced her at gunpoint to withdraw funds from the local ATM just prior to his apprehension.

Officers then responded to the couple’s residence of 203 N. Cary Street to process the scene at which time a large quantity of illegal narcotics were located belonging to Gates.

Gates has been charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Gates was transported to the Troup County Jail following his arrest.
