The Troup County School System saw its number of staff members with COVID-19 double over the last four days, according to information released Tuesday.
TCSS has eight staff members with a confirmed case of COVID-19, up from four on Sept. 11. That number does include virtual teachers, according to the school system.
The number of student cases also rose from four to six.
The number of students in quarantine lowered from 201 on Friday to 197 on Tuesday, but the number of staff members in quarantine increased from 12 to 21.
“We don’t believe we’ve had spread inside the district,” Superintendent Brian Shumate said at Monday night’s school board work session. “… Every week kids are coming off quarantine and every week kids are going into quarantine. We’ve been positive [more coming out than going in] the last two weeks. This coming week we hope [the numbers] level out, and we are monitoring these numbers every day.”
