COLUMBUS -The LaGrange Grangers made easy work of Kendrick on Friday in a Region 2-AAAA showdown at Memorial Stadium.

Looking to win three straight games for the first time since 2010, LaGrange cruised to a 48-8 victory to improve to 3-1 overall, and 2-0 in Region 2-AAAA.

The Grangers did all of their scoring in the first half, and the second half went quickly with a running clock, and head coach Matt Napier emptied the bench to get everyone some playing time.

Sophomore quarterback Jaylan Brown continued his stellar play with three touchdown passes and two scoring runs, and Asa Leath and Carlos Brown both had touchdown runs.

LaGrange struck quickly in Friday’s game, with Brown hooking up with AJ Traylor for a 13-yard touchdown pass, and Micah Prophett made the first of his six extra points to make it a 7-0 game.

The Grangers found the end zone once again the next time they had the ball, with Brown scoring on a 2-yard run, and the lead was 14-0 with 5:38 left in the opening quarter.

Following an interception, LaGrange’s offense went back to work, with Leath capping the quick scoring drive with a 2-yard run, and the score was 21-0 with 4:08 to play in the first quarter.

On the final play of the first quarter, Brown scored on a 27-yard run, and the Grangers had a 28-0 lead.

In the second quarter, freshman tight end Parker Shattuck got into the act with a 5-yard touchdown catch from Brown, and the Grangers were ahead 34-0.

With 3:24 left in the first half, Kobe Jones was on the receiving end of a 33-yard touchdown catch from Brown, and the Grangers led 41-8.

Following a Kendrick fumble, Carlos Brown scored on a 17-yard run, and LaGrange led 48-8, which was the score at the half.

Kendrick scored the lone touchdown in the second half.
