LaGrange Academy reaches championship series

LaGrange Academy’s softball team advanced to the GISA Class A state-championship series with a dominant performance against First Presbyterian on Thursday.
After winning the first game of the best-of-three series 16-0, LaGrange Academy finished off the sweep with an 18-0 victory.
LaGrange Academy, which won the state title last season, will be in Dublin next week for the best-of-three championship series.
LAGRANGE HIGH: LaGrange finished the regular season with a 7-0 road win over Whitewater on Thursday.
LaGrange, which won the Region 2-AAAA championship last week, finished the regular season with a 19-9 record, and it will be at home for a first-round series in the state playoffs next week.
CALLAWAY: Callaway finished fourth in the Region 5-AA tournament after losing to Haralson County 8-0 on Thursday.
Callaway will be on the road for the first round of the state playoffs.
VOLLEYBALL: Troup finished third in the Area 1-AAAA tournament after beating LaGrange and falling to Fayette County on Thursday.
Troup beat LaGrange in its first match on Thursday before losing to Fayette County.
Fayette County and Central-Carroll will be the area’s top-two seeds for the state tournament, and they’ll host first-round matches.
Troup will be on the road for a first-round match at state, as will LaGrange, which finished fourth in the area tournament.
