The Callaway Cavaliers were supposed to open their Region 5-AA football schedule at Haralson County on Friday, but the game won’t be played.
On Tuesday, Callaway High principal Jonathan Laney announced that the school will be going to virtual learning for the remainder of the week, meaning there won’t be any students on campus.
The decision was also made to cancel all extra-curricular activities this week, which means the football game won’t be played, and the team also won’t be able to practice.
When and if the game will be made up will be determined later.
Callaway (4-0 overall) was off last week as it prepared for its four-game region schedule beginning with a showdown against Haralson County (5-0).
Callaway’s next scheduled game is against Bremen on Oct. 30, and it is supposed to play Temple on Nov. 13 and Heard County on Nov. 20.
Haralson County is scheduled to play Temple on Oct. 30, Heard County on Nov. 6, and Bremen on Nov. 20.
