It’ll be a busy week for the Callaway Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers were supposed to play Haralson County on Friday, but the game had to be postponed because of Callaway High’s decision to go to virtual learning for the remainder of the week.

All extra-curricular activities for the week, including Friday’s football game, were canceled.

Assuming school is back in session on Monday, Callaway and Haralson County will instead face off on Tuesday, and the game will be played in Tallapoosa.

Callaway was supposed to host Bremen on Oct. 30, and that game will be pushed back one day to Oct. 31.

That means after Callaway plays Haralson County, it will only have four days before it has to turn around and play Bremen.

There was no other alternative, though, since the remaining off week for Callaway and Haralson County doesn’t match up.

If a make-up date couldn’t have been found, Callaway would have had to forfeit its game against Haralson County.

It will be the Region 5-AA opener for Callaway (4-0) and Haralson County (5-0), who are both unbeaten and were off last week.

Callaway improved to 4-0 with a dramatic 16-14 road win over Thomas County Central when it scored the go-ahead touchdown with seven seconds left on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Demetrius Coleman to Jalin Shephard.

Haralson County, meanwhile, blanked Banks County 44-0 on Oct. 9 to run its record to 5-0.

After the busy stretch of two games in five days, Callaway will take a week off before it resumes its region schedule Nov. 13 at Bremen.

Callaway finishes the regular season against rival Heard County on Nov. 20.
