Newnan man found deceased on train tracks near East Depot Street

A 23-year-old man from Newnan, Georgia, was discovered deceased by a CSX train engineer early Sunday morning. According to LaGrange Police Sgt. Mark Cavendar, the deceased was found around 6 a.m.

He said that it was possible the man was either hit by a train earlier in the evening or that he had jumped off a train traveling through LaGrange.

Cavendar said that incident could have taken anytime between midnight and 6 a.m.

According to the Troup County Coroners Office, the cause of death was ruled accidental and the victim died of blunt force trauma to the head and torso region.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
