There are five quality football teams in Region 5-AA, and one of those teams will be at home when the state playoffs begin.

All five teams in the region have winning records, and two of those teams, Callaway and Haralson County, are unbeaten.

Callaway took a big step toward securing a state-playoff spot with a 26-16 home win over Bremen last week, and it has a massive showdown with Haralson County looming on Nov. 10.

Callaway head coach Pete Wiggins knows that all of the region games will present a test for his team which is looking to win a second straight region title.

“I think our region is the toughest in the state of Georgia,” Wiggins said before the Bremen game. “I think all the teams can beat the other one on a given night. We just have to go out and play our brand of ball, and hopefully some things will go our way and we can take advantage of momentum.”

After visiting Haralson County, Callaway closes the regular season with a road game against Temple and a home showdown with rival Heard County.
