Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The holiday season is kicking off in Troup County this weekend.

To gear up for the holiday’s newly opened event venue, Burrow Warehouse, is hosting a merry market Saturday and Sunday. There will be approximately 25 to 30 vendors selling furniture, paintings, boutique finds, accessories, handmade jewelry, gifts, home decor, stationary, holiday goods, treats and sweets.

On Saturday, the market will go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be craft classes throughout the weekend. For ticket and vendor information, visit Burrowwarehouse.com. The venue is located at 709 4th Avenue in West Point.

On Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., Hills and Dales is hosting its annual adult gingerbread house workshop. Floral designer David Brown will walk participants through the intricacies of designing a gingerbread house for your holiday table.

All supplies will be provided but attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite candies and anything special you want to add to the gingerbread house design.

The cost is $50 per person, which includes workshop fees, supplies and refreshments.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Call (706) 882-3242 or email info@hillsanddales.org to register. Annual members receive a 20% discount.

Also, this weekend is the Barks and Bass Fishing Charity Tournament to benefit the LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society.

The LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society was forced to cancel its annual Fur Ball Gala due to COVID, so now they are trying something new with a bass fishing tournament. The tournament will take place Nov. 14 at Pyne Road Park on West Point Lake. The entry fee is $150 per boat. Prizes will be $1,312.50 for first place, $937.50 for second, $675.50 for third, $487.50 for fourth and $337.50 for fifth.

Raffle tickets will also be sold for $5 a piece, or five tickets for $20.

Among the raffle prizes are a one-night stay at Home2 Suites, waterpark passes for Great Wolf Lodge, a membership at FMJ Armory, gift cards for local restaurants, a High Museum of Art membership and a Wild Leap Brew Co. package.

Food will also be sold on site.
