The City of LaGrange announced street closures on Tuesday ahead of this year’s Christmas parade.

The 44th annual Christmas parade will occur in downtown LaGrange on Thursday.

Streets will start closing at 5:45 p.m. The parade will begin at 6 p.m.

Streets that will be partially or fully closed are North Greenwood Street, West Haralson Street, Church Street, West Lafayette Square, Bull Street, East Broome Street, Main Street, East Lafayette Square, Ridley Avenue  and Highland Avenue.

Vehicles seeking to travel east or west through downtown will be detoured to the south to circumvent the parade route.

No parking will be allowed on Bull Street or Main Street along the parade route.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, physical distancing and face masks will be encouraged.

People can also watch the parade at home on the city’s LGTV Facebook page at facebook.com/lgtv.org.

The parade is hosted by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce and presented by Kimberly-Clark.

This year’s theme is “Christmas to the Rescue.”

Before the parade there will be a concert by Grammy-nominated local blues musician Jontavious Willis on Lafayette Square starting around 4 p.m. The annual Christmas tree lighting will be at 5 p.m.
