The basketball teams from LaGrange and Troup have played hundreds of times over the years, but there will be something different when the cross-town rivals face off on Thursday.

For the first time ever, the two teams will play in LaGrange High’s brand-new gymnasium, which was completed in late summer.

The LaGrange and Troup girls’ teams will play at 6 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow.

LaGrange’s girls’ team opened the season with a 45-41 loss to Heard County, while Troup (1-2) beat Lanett 57-24 for its first win last week.

In the boys’ game, LaGrange (0-1) is looking for its first win after falling to Russell County in its season opener, while Troup (1-2) is chasing a second straight win after edging Lanett 49-47 on Tuesday.
