Presents have been unwrapped, Santa has returned to the North Pole and families in LaGrange can enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.

For anyone looking for something fun and festive to do over the weekend, Sweetland on Ice will be open every day from noon to 9 p.m.

Ice skating and skate rental costs $14. For children under 10, the cost is $10. Anyone who brings their own skates pays $8, and the group rate for 10 plus people is $12 for adults and $8 for kids.

Sweetland will be limiting its capacity to only 200 people under the ice rink tent at one time. This will allow everyone ample space inside of the 5,500 square foot ice rink plus surrounding areas. Hand sanitizing stations will be set up in several areas inside of the facility.

Face masks are mandatory. The rink’s guidelines are as follows:

4Masks may be removed by participants when taking the ice but should be put back on immediately following.

4Parents, guests and ice skaters may remove masks to eat and drink.

4Masks must be worn when walking around the facility.

4All staff members are required to wear a mask at all times.

4Any guests entering the facility without a face mask may purchase one from the front desk for $1.

Callaway Resort and Gardens will still be hosting its 29th annual holiday tradition, Fantasy in Lights, until Jan. 4.

Now in its 29th season, the outdoor experience introduces Magical Field of Lights, a brand-new scene nearly two-football fields long, featuring a Christmas tree over 10 stories tall.

Guests can ride through an illuminated forest and make merry in the Christmas Village through Jan. 4.

A press release from Callaway Gardens said that it is a unique holiday experience.

“Fantasy in Lights is a whimsical Christmas storybook journey,” the press release said. “Whether by Jolly Trolley or personal vehicle, guests are immersed in more than 8 million sparkling lights and holiday themed music. This favorite Christmas tradition includes classic scenes such as Snowflake Valley, Magical Christmas Garden and more. Extend the celebration with an overnight stay at the resort and explore 2,500 acres of stunning natural landscape inside Callaway Gardens.”

For tickets to Fantasy in Lights, visit www.callawaygardens.com/FIL or call (877) 496-2044. The gardens recommends advance purchase of tickets.

Tickets include complimentary one-day admission to Callaway Gardens, the tropical Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, educational Callaway Discovery Center, live Birds of Prey Shows, miles of nature trails, the Discovery Bicycle Trail, peaceful Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel and more.

In addition to Fantasy in Lights, visitors can take part in holiday shopping at the newly renovated Christmas Tent. Visitors can see Santa at the reimagined “Santa Photo” area that allows families to meet with Santa from a safe distance.

Kids can wave to him from behind the scenes as he works in the cottage office.

After a photo with Mr. Claus, families can head to Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen and learn the art of Christmas cookie decorating from Mrs. Claus.
