A trio of Callaway High wrestlers earned places on the awards podium during a tournament at Rockmart last week.

Isaiah Shoemake was Callaway’s top placer with a third-place finish at 138 pounds, and Colton Cline (170 pounds) and Ethan Mill (182 pounds) finished fourth.

Callaway will be back in action on Saturday as it hosts a traditional-format event.

In addition to Callaway, the other participating teams will be Troup, LaGrange, Haralson County, Mount Zion, Northgate, Villa Rica and Smiths Station.

Callaway has been wrestling short-handed with many of its top wrestlers busy with football, including former state placers LaQuize Gilbert and LaDarrious Williams.

Callaway finished its season by winning the state championship on Tuesday, so the wrestling team is at full strength heading into a key stretch that includes the area duals in a few weeks.
