The Troup Lady Tigers saw their four-game winning streak come to a close with a hard-fought loss to a strong Carrollton team on Saturday.

In a game that was close the whole way, Carrollton outscored Troup by eight points in the fourth quarter to earn the 61-58 victory.

Troup (4-3) has dropped three games this season, and they’ve each been against one of the state’s elite teams.

After opening with losses to Langston Hughes and Collins Hills, Troup won four in a row before falling on the road to Carrollton.

Carrollton (10-1), one of the top-ranked teams in Class AAAAAA, was trailing by six points through three quarters, but it outscored Troup 19-11 in the final quarter to secure the come-from-behind win.

Alexcia Murphy had a stellar all-around game for Troup with 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Jada Green added 13 points, and Aniya Palmer had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Samarria Weldon helped out with eight points, and Monyia Murphy scored six points.

Troup surged to a 17-13 lead after the first quarter, and it was ahead 30-28 at the halftime break.

Green scored six points in the third quarter to help Troup extend its lead to 47-42, but Kehinde Obasuyi scored 15 of her 22 points in the final quarter as Carrollton rallied for the win.

De’Mauri Flournoy led Carrollton with 28 points, and she and Obasuyi combined for 50 of the team’s 61 points.

Troup, which finished second in the Class AAAA state tournament last season, will host East Coweta on Wednesday.
