District 5 Representative Cathy Hunt was elected Chair of the Troup County Board of Education at the board’s meeting Monday night.

Hunt will lead the board with district 3 representative Brandon Brooks, who was elected vice chair. Both votes passed unanimously.

Before the chair election, Hunt, Brooks, Joe Franklin and Ferrell Blair were sworn in as representatives after their election in May. This is Blair’s first term; the other members were reelected.

Kirk Hancock had previously served as the board’s chair. Hancock did not run for re-election.
