Callaway sweeps Haralson County

TALLAPOOSA – It was a winning road trip to Haralson County for Callaway High’s basketball teams.
In the girls’ game, Callaway (5-2) handled Haralson County 38-27 to improve to 2-0 in Region 5-AA.
Jazmine Thornton made three 3-pointers and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line while scoring a game-high 15 points.
Gabrielle Johnson made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points, and Kristal Stephens added five points, all in the first quarter.
In the boys’ game, Callaway (2-5) eased past Haralson County 72-38.
Cameron Smith led Callaway with 13 points and eight rebounds, Demetrius Coleman scored 12 points, Javontay Boddie had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Exavious Reed scored eight points.
Callaway hosts Harris County on Saturday, with the girls’ game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game to follow.
