FRANKLIN – The Callaway Cavaliers remained perfect in Region 5-AA with a 58-49 road win over Heard County on Tuesday night.
The Cavaliers (3-6) improved to 3-0 in the region and moved into first place by themselves.
Demetrius Coleman led the Cavaliers with 17 points, ¬and Kaleb Salter scored 11 points.
Also contributing were Jalin Shephard (nine points), Javontay Boddie (seven points) and Devin Dowell (five points).
The Cavaliers started quickly and led 13-7 after the first quarter, and they were ahead 35-19 at the half and 47-32 through three quarters.
In the girls’ game, Callaway fell to 1-1 in the region with a 48-40 loss to Heard County.
Lacy Thomas led Callaway with 13 points, Niakoe Burks added 10 points, and Gabrielle Johnson and Jazmine Thornton contributed six points apiece.
Heard County led 19-9 after the first quarter, and it was ahead 33-20 at the half and 41-33 through three quarters.
