Four members of the LaGrange High track-and-field team participated in the MLK Invitational in Birmingham on Monday.

In the indoor competition, LaGrange’s Kale Gibbs broke his own school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.30 seconds.

Gibbs was sixth in the competition, with Auburn’s Charlie Sexton sprinting to first place with a time of 7.09 seconds.

Gibbs also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, and he placed fifth with a time of 8.96 seconds, leaving him just off the pace of the school record that he owns.

Also competing in Birmingham for LaGrange were distance runners Aaron Fritchley, Nathan Fritchley and Will Allred.

In the 1,600-meter run, Aaron Fritchley finished the four circuits around the track in a time of five minutes, eight seconds to finish 17th.

Fritchley’s time was four seconds off his outdoor personal record. Nathan Fritchley had a time of 11:39 in the 3,200-meter run to finish 19th, and Allred ran the 3,200 in 12:20.
