The LaGrange High wrestling team fell to Thomas County Central 42-40 on Saturday in the Georgia High School Association team dual wrestling prelims.

Had LaGrange won, it would have advanced to the eight-team Class AAAA state duals this weekend, but that spot instead went to Thomas County Central.

Also, Troup’s hopes of qualifying for the Class AAAA state duals ended with a 63-12 loss to Perry.

LaGrange and Troup both had first-round byes on Saturday before falling in the second round.

Troup and LaGrange finished second and third, respectively, in the Area 2-AAAA duals to make it to the wrestling prelims.

Also on Saturday, Callaway lost to Cook County 51-21 in the first round of the Class AA prelims.

Callaway finished fourth in the Area 4-AA duals to advance to the prelims.
