Police search for man accused of threatening friend with knife

A LaGrange man has warrants out for aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, auto theft and obstruction of officers on Sunday after reportedly threatening a friend with a knife and stealing her car.

According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, LPD officers responded to Town and Country Motel on New Franklin Road at about 8 p.m. 

Sunday in reference to an altercation between a man and a woman there. Police spoke with the woman, who said that the man, Carl Lamar Stevens, 27, of LaGrange, assaulted her and took her vehicle. 

“Further investigation revealed that during an altercation inside one of the motel rooms rented by Stevens, he had threatened [the woman] with a knife telling her not to call police,” the release reads.

The woman told police she tried to prevent Warner from leaving but was unable to escape the room. 

According to the release, Stevens then fled the scene in the woman’s vehicle before police arrived. 

Officers later located Stevens in the stolen car, but he reportedly ran from officers and still has not been apprehended. 

Warrants have been issued for Stevens’ arrest.
