The Callaway Lady Cavaliers have done their part, now they just wait and see.

Callaway handled Bremen 54-41 on Tuesday night to finish the regular season with a 7-1 Region 5-AA record.

Heard County is 6-1 in the region, and it finishes the regular season with a home game against Haralson County on Friday.

If Haralson County wins, Callaway will be the top seed for next week’s region tournament, and it will be the host team.

If Heard County beats Haralson, then it will finish tied with Callaway, and a coin flip will determine which team will be the number one seed and will host the region tournament.

Callaway (11-6 overall) has won five straight region games, and that included a 58-53 home win over Heard County last week.

Bremen, which hasn’t won a region game, had things working early, and it led 15-8 after the first quarter, but Callaway fought back to take a 25-21 lead at the half.

The Lady Cavaliers were clinging to a 38-33 lead after three quarters, and they outscored the Lady Blue Devils 16-8 in the fourth quarter to put it away.

Jazmine Thornton, one of the talented freshman at Callaway, led the way with 20 points, and she made two 3-pointers and scored eight points in the fourth quarter.

Camryn Stargell added 11 points and provided some tough play inside, and Niakoe Burks scored 10 points.

Junior guard Gabrielle Johnson, Callaway’s leading scorer this season, contributed nine points.
