A man suspected of taking items from several homes in LaGrange was arrested on Monday, and now authorities are asking victims to come forward if they are missing items from their yard.

Willie Tiller, 60, of LaGrange was initially arrested Monday after a traffic stop for traffic-related offenses. However, during the stop, Tiller was allegedly in possession of law equipment that authorities believe was taken in recent thefts and burglaries around LaGrange, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release.

Property in the truck Tiller was driving was allegedly taken during a burglary earlier in the day on Wisteria Way. The equipment taken was identified by the owner, according to LPD.

Tiller, who is on parole, was also in possession of a firearm, according to LPD.

The LPD’s Criminal Investigations Section was then able to work with the Department of Community Supervision and conduct a search of Tiller’s residence. During the search, additional stolen property was recovered from Tiller’s home, according to LPD.

The LPD believes Tiller may have been involved in numerous thefts around LaGrange.

Anyone that has been a victim of a theft or burglary where lawn equipment, golf clubs, fishing rods and reels, tackle, bikes and other assorted items were taken is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706 812-1000.

Tiller has initially been charged with driving with a suspended license, burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
