LaGrange High’s Colin Cavender capped a memorable senior season by placing fourth in the Class AAAA state wrestling finals in Macon.

After losing his second match, Cavender ran off three consecutive wins before falling to Tyler Secoy of Columbus in the third-place match at 138 pounds.

Cavender, who finished second in the area tournament to qualify for state, had a first-round bye before losing to Jefferson’s Mason Mingus.

Cavender beat Evan Wingrove of Heritage-Catoosa in overtime to stay alive, and he won two more matches before losing to Secoy.

Four other LaGrange wrestlers won at least two matches at state, including Grayson Whaley, who went 3-2 at 132 pounds.

Hunter Brooks (120 pounds), Julian Santiago (152 pounds) and Tayvon Howard (182 pounds) each went 2-2 at state.

Senior Jacob Anderson qualified for state at 160 pounds but was unable to compete.
