County settling lawsuit
The Troup County Board of Commissioners discussed a lawsuit Tuesday night filed against the county by Tiffany Hutchinson, who previously served as mental health coordinator.
The lawsuit said Hutchinson was discriminated against and unlawfully terminated because of her race, her pregnancy, and FMLA medical leave that she took to care for her newborn child.
County Manager Eric Mosley and Court Services Director Lindsay Fenn were named in the lawsuit.
County Attorney Jerry Willis said the attorneys representing the county recommended that they go ahead and dispose of the lawsuit by settlement. The county approved the consent to the settlement for $72,500.
