A woman has been arrested on Monday for allegedly attempting to burn down the Daniel Street Food Mart located at 512 Daniel Street.

According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, Victoria Kendrick was charged with criminal attempt (first-degree arson). Kendrick was also currently on bond for a previous first-degree arson charge, as well as two counts of burglary.

The owner of the store told police he had told Kendrick to leave the store after he allegedly caught her trying to steal merchandise. The manager told police that Kendrick then attempted to set fire to the exterior of the business by placing several items of clothing under the power meter base and setting them on fire.

The manager was able to extinguish the fire before damage was caused to the building. Kendrick was found walking in the area and detained. After an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Section, Kendrick was arrested and charged.
