Daniel E. Ogletree, 89, son of the late Lenora Cohen Ogletree and William Thomas Ogletree passed away on April 21, 2021, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dan was born December 17, 1931 in LaGrange, Georgia and resided there until he was 18 and enlisted in the Navy. During his 26 years in the Navy, Dan served at many duty stations including the USS Philippine Sea (CV47), USS Lake Champlain (CV39), NAS Miramar in California, Military Sea Transportation Service in London, England, Commander Naval Air Force Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Virginia, Commander Fleet Air Mediterranean in Naples, Italy, USS Shasta (AE-6), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Office in Baltimore, USS Tidewater (AD31), CINCLANTFLT in Norfolk, Virginia, Military Advisory Group in Athens, Greece and Commander Naval District, Washington, D.C.
After retiring from the Navy, Dan worked at various Defense Contractors in the Tidewater area and finally retired in February, 2006.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Frances Ogletree and is survived by his son, Mark Ogletree, of Atlanta, Georgia and grandchildren Marin and Hayes, and daughter Karen Ogletree-Nanez of Virginia Beach and grandchildren Ryan and Ian.
Dan will be cremated and scattered at Golders Green in London England with the mother of his children. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
