In the opening game of a best-of-three playoff series, the LaGrange Academy Warriors fell to visiting First Presbyterian 9-3 on Friday.

Game two will be on Saturday at 1 p.m., and if LaGrange Academy wins, a third and deciding game would follow.

In Friday’s game, First Presbyterian surged to a 6-0 lead before LaGrange Academy scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut its deficit in half.

The Highlanders scored the game’s final three runs, though, to take the lead in the series.

Connor Roberts had two hits for LaGrange Academy including a double, and Jackson Malone had a two-run double in the third inning.

Silas Leichty had a base hit for the Warriors, and leadoff hitter Sam Anderson walked twice.

Lewis King pitched a complete game for LaGrange Academy.

Caleb Harmon went the distance for First Presbyterian to get the win, and Cameron Eason had four hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs.
