Man arrested on numerous charges following pursuit

Devendra Ledarius Carlisle, 29, of Valley, has been arrested following an investigation from a May 15 incident.
According to a press release from the West Point Police Department, the incident began with a shots fired call at the housing authority located in West Point. When officers arrived on the scene, a possible suspect was seen driving a black in color SUV with no lights on fleeing the scene.
West Point officers attempted to stop the suspect, and he failed to comply. That is when a vehicle pursuit was initiated within the city limits of West Point and continued into Lanett.
At that point, Lanett and Valley officers joined in and took over the pursuit. The suspect was eventually stopped and apprehended without any further incident, according to the press release.
Carlisle’s charges include driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, criminal damage to private property, reckless conduct, theft by bringing stolen property into state, attempting to elude officers, failure to maintain lane, speeding, failure to stop for stop signs and assault.
